IT was a moment of pride for the management, principal and staff of the Datta Meghe College of Engineering, Airoli on October 3. Their student, Shankar Bhate of the Electronics branch, who topped the Mumbai University with 74.21 percent was felicitated at a function organised for parents and other merit holders of the college.
In all, there were 23 students who were felicitated at the function with their proud parents.
Shankar received a felicitation certificate and a cheque for Rs 21,000. Not only did Shankar bring laurels for the college, 25 per cent of the distinction holders from the University of Mumbai are from Datta Meghe College.
Shankar added about his success, “Several factors were responsible for my success - my own efforts, contribution of my professors, study of exam pattern, my parents, God my friends. Presently, I am preparing for higher studies – Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) which makes me eligible for any M E/M Tech in India – preferably IIT.� Manju Nair, who secured 75.17 per cent from the computer branch, gave a touching speech.
“I thank God, my parents and professors what they have done for me. Now is my duty to serve them,� she said with tears in her eyes. Dr A R Katti, principal lauded the heads of departments for their contribution towards the success of the students.
CEO Abhiraj Singh, technical director A P Patil and secretary Banerjee were also present at the function. The heads of the respective deparments – Electronics, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Computer Engineering too – were congratulated by the management for their endeavour towards the success of the students. Dr Katti stressed that all efforts were being made to get better and achieve 100 per cent results in the future.
